At the age of fifteen I became pregnant. It was completely unexpected from my parents, but I knew that I wanted to keep my baby. I wasn't ready but I had nine months to get ready(after all that's the same amount of time as any other mother!). My father would not acknowledge the fact that I was pregnant for six months. After nine long months I had a little girl, kaytlyn. But that's just where my adoption story begins. In September of 1999, just three months after Kaytlyn was born I learned that I was pregnant, again. We(david, both children's fathers)talked it over and didn't think that we could take care of another baby. When I told my mom she said that I had to have an abortion. She gave me $300 dollars and told me not to come back until "it was done".I told david and we went to the clinic.I was filling out paper when I looked at kaytlyn and saw how beautiful she was and imagined this baby-I left the clinic and went home. I told my parents that I had an abortion. So, now I didn't know what I was going to do but I wasn't going to kill my baby. So I went for four months of hiding it until my parents got mad at me because my daughter was never with me(because I still went to a public high school and worked 40 hours at McDonalds)she was at her dads or daycare all day 5 days a week. My dad said if this was how I was raising my daughter I had to move out.I was only seventeen and had until he got out of work to find a place to go.I ended going to a battered women's shelter and staying there. I found a small apartment. On May 18th my water broke. I wasn't sure what to do because I hadn't seen a doctor or anything. So Kaytlyn and I walked to the bus stop and took her to daycare.I just told her I was sick and had to go to the hospital (nobody but me and david knew I was pregnant). Then I took the bus to the hospital and told them that I was pregnant and my water broke. When they learned that I didn't have any pre-natal care they prepped me to go to a hospital neo-natal center by ambulance.I called my mom and just said that I was pregnant and in the hospital. She said that was my problem but her friend happened to be there and she come to be with me. Once I got to the other hospital my parents came a few hours later. They asked what I was going to do-to be honest, I didn't know. After I talked with david we decided we didn't want to give the baby to strangers, so we would keep the baby.My little Joshua was born on May 19,2000. Then God sent us a miracle-The Fitzgerald's. They were a nice friend of the family and unbenounced to us they were trying to adopt.David and I talked it over and were comfortable with them and knew that our little boy would be better off there. So my mom called from the hospital and said I here you are looking to adopt a baby. She was a little weirded out by the beginning of the conversation until my mom explained the situation and she was at the hospital right away. The thing that really made up my mind that this was right was as soon as her and her husband got there they didn't say where's the baby or anything about the baby they just gave me a hug and wanted to know how I was. They cared about me not just what I could give them. So now Joshua is three and I see him all the time.I am in college to be a nurse and stephanie is a doctor so she helps me with my school work if I need it.We have a great relationship, and I get to see my little boy and know that he is ok.
